Contributing post by Linda Bertaut for The suspense is building as we near the winter solstice on 12/21/12 marking the last day of the Mayan Calendar. Is the shortest day of the year also going to be our last? Did Mayans possess the ability to see into the future to predict the end of the world as we know it? Yes, they did.

Our world evolves in cycles. Winter solstice marks the shortest day of the year and a return to light. The end of one cycle begins the next. You are a walking example of cyclical change. The end of the Mayan calendar marks the shift from thoughts of the mind to feelings of the heart, not the end of the world.

The Mayan people revere all life as sacred. Their greeting, In Lak’ech Ala K’in represents their way of life…meaning, I am you and you are me. Spiritual significance is found in all things and celebrated.

Have you noticed changes in your life recently? Have you felt more sentimental? Do tears well up when you are touched by beauty or pain. Do you feel agitated at times, like you are growing out of your own skin? If you said yes, you already have one foot in the new era ruled by the heart.

Celebrate the wisdom of the Maya by immersing yourself in this new energy of love and conscious awareness. Slow down. Enjoy life. Spend time in Nature. Empty your mind and let your heart reign supreme.
