How to Feed Your Chakras

I spend a lot of time talking about feeding your inner rainbow to fuel your chakras; I figured it was time to get specific about how.

As color energy centers, chakras need the fuel provided by nature’s color energy. The most obvious form of energy comes from food. The colorful fruits and vegetables the health industry is encouraging everyone to consume do wonders for your chakras as well as your diet.

However, color energy has a multitude of other sources:

  • Clothing: Wear natural fabrics in the color of the chakra that needs stimulating.
  • Environment: Use paint, art, and colored lighting to charge your chakras.
  • Gemstones & Minerals: There is more than just beauty in those rocks. The color energy they contain makes them a healing addition to your jewelry box and décor. Rose quartz, amethyst, jade, and citrine are just a few examples of gemstones you could add to your collection.

The more you feed your chakras with the color energy from nature, the healthier you will be on all levels:

  • Spiritual: The cure for disease is prevention, which starts when we feed our spirit. Being full of color energy keeps the “whole” person healthy.
  • Physical: Your body thrives on color nutrients from fresh fruits and vegetables. The minerals in these foods are the catalysts for numerous cellular activities in the body.
  • Emotional: Being full of color energy helps you feel peaceful, content, and whole.
  • Mental: The healthiest minds are quiet, free of mental chatter. In this mindset, we are able to intuit and have conscious thought.

Our environment, what we eat, as well as how we think and act has an energy value that directly impacts our health and vitality. Eating fresh food from the garden, sharing a smile, feeling love, and performing good deeds supplies us with the most vitality. On the other hand, highly processed foods, negative thoughts, and anger diminish energy.

Show your true colors by feeding your inner rainbow with the beauty of nature. Introducing fresh fruits, herbal teas, and colorful gemstones to your life will improve your health, vitality, and energy levels.

Energy Healing Mood Mists

Energy Healing Mood Mists help to lift your spirits and balance your Chakras.

Energy Healing Mood Mists help to lift your spirits and balance your Chakras.

  • Brain Alert for more mental clarity and focus with less mental chatter
  • Calm & Collecting to calm the nerves, de-stress and be present
  • Spirit Guides for a better connection to intuitive insights and A-Ha moments

Aromatherapy "Mood Mists" were designed to enhance and improve one's mood instantly. Using the sense of smell, we quickly connect to the brain to affect a change in mood or attitude. Each Mood Mist formula includes a special blend of "Reiki-attuned" essential oils and flower essences that address a specific issue related to a stressful lifestyle...bringing balance to all aspects of the physical, emotional, mental and energy bodies.

Essential oils are not synthetic fragrance. They are the volatile oil in plants and flowers also known as plant hormones. When you rub a peppermint leaf between your thumb and forefinger, you are smelling the volatile oil of the plant. Based on the chemistry of these oils they work naturally with our brain chemistry to initiate a physiological change. Examples include the increase of circulation which enhances memory or elevating hormones to improve one's mood.

Flower Essences used in the Mood Mists are not to be confused with Essential Oils. Based on the work of Dr. Bach, in the 1930's, they are considered to be the vibration or "spirit" of the plant.

Imagine sitting in nature surrounded by fragrant flowers. The scent improves your mood and the essence revives your energy or spirit. Combining the two creates an all encompassing healing tool to use daily. They are ideal to use at home and work, during spa treatments or as a way to clear negative energy...on both people and in rooms.

In addition, Mood Mists have been energy-infused with Reiki healing and balancing energy to lift the spirits and create balance. A solubilizer was added as a freshness enhancer and to bind the oil and water together so that each mist has the same potency from beginning to end. See these ingredients at the end.

The 7 Chakras Explained

Each Chakra has its own personality and represents a unique aspect of your essence. When you understand the energy that fuels each Chakra you can see how each one contributes to your Chakraliciousness. Here is a brief overview of how the Chakras work together:

  1. The first Chakra is the most physical and provides you the energy to survive, thrive, and take action to walk your unique path in life.
  2. The second Chakra is an emotional center and provides the ability to create, feel, relate to others, and create your life with passion.
  3. The third Chakra is mental and provides you with the ability to learn, communicate your personal truth, and project your external image to others.
  4. The fourth Chakra connects you to your inner self and to connect to nature’s rhythm, experience “unconditional” love, heartfelt resonance, and have conscious awareness.
  5. The fifth Chakra is your communication center and allows you to accept the many facets that make you unique to express yourself authentically.
  6. The sixth Chakra is your third eye and provides clear vision to see the big picture, how you fit into the picture, and take the steps needed to actualize your vision.
  7. The seventh Chakra is the most etheric energy, allowing you to intuit and receive conscious information to guide you on your path.

When you use the Chakra energy available to you, you act from your whole self; body, mind and spirit:

You receive information from a conscious source (7th Chakra) so you have clear vision to see how you fit into the big picture (6th Chakra). You can then clearly communicate (5th Chakra) your vision from the heart with love and compassion (4th Chakra). You have the will and perseverance (3rd Chakra) to bring your vision into the physical world with creativity and passion (2nd Chakra) so you can take action and walk your unique path in life (1st Chakra).

Stress, anxiety, depression, and constant mental chatter are signs of not utilizing your innate abilities to create your life through intuition and feelings. It is time to move out of your head for the answers and to tap into your intuition and feelings to guide you along your path. -Linda Bertaut

What are Chakras?

The colors in Nature's rainbow are the same as the colors of our inner rainbow, the Chakra system.

copyright Bertaut Beauty

Chakra is an ancient Sanskrit word meaning “wheel of light.” Aligned in the center of the body near the spinal column, each Chakra is associated with a color, sense, sound, endocrine gland and organs.

The first Chakra has the most physical energy while the seventh has the most etheric energy. As you work your way up from the first chakra to the seventh you have more conscious awareness about who you are and why you are here. Being consistently out of balance in one or more Chakras can affect the health of the physical body’s associated organs. It also affects your mental and emotional health which shows up as stress, anxiety, depression and constant mental chatter.

This is why it is important to feed yourself energetically with practices such as yoga, meditation, Reiki, spending time in nature and doing things you love to do in order to maintain a healthy body, mind and spirit.

Eastern and indigenous cultures have words to describe this energy as well; the Chinese call it Chi, the Japanese call it Ki, and East Indians call it Prana.

Ever wonder why you have symptoms of an illness before the illness actually shows up? The illness manifests on an energy level first. When you fuel your Chakras/Inner Rainbow with the color energy from nature you help to prevent disease, stress, depression and more. How Chakralicious are you? © Linda Bertaut

The Mayan Calendar: The End of the World or End of an Era?

Contributing post by Linda Bertaut for www.aTrueLatina.com The suspense is building as we near the winter solstice on 12/21/12 marking the last day of the Mayan Calendar. Is the shortest day of the year also going to be our last? Did Mayans possess the ability to see into the future to predict the end of the world as we know it? Yes, they did.

Our world evolves in cycles. Winter solstice marks the shortest day of the year and a return to light. The end of one cycle begins the next. You are a walking example of cyclical change. The end of the Mayan calendar marks the shift from thoughts of the mind to feelings of the heart, not the end of the world.

The Mayan people revere all life as sacred. Their greeting, In Lak’ech Ala K’in represents their way of life…meaning, I am you and you are me. Spiritual significance is found in all things and celebrated.

Have you noticed changes in your life recently? Have you felt more sentimental? Do tears well up when you are touched by beauty or pain. Do you feel agitated at times, like you are growing out of your own skin? If you said yes, you already have one foot in the new era ruled by the heart.

Celebrate the wisdom of the Maya by immersing yourself in this new energy of love and conscious awareness. Slow down. Enjoy life. Spend time in Nature. Empty your mind and let your heart reign supreme.

Share this yummy Mayan recipe with others:

Mayan Cacao Pudding Recipe:

  • ¼ Cup Chia Seed
  • ¼ Cup Agave Nectar
  • 1 Cup Coconut Milk
  • 1 – 2 Tablespoons Cacao powder

Blend all ingredients in a blender, pour into individual cups, chill for 3 hours and enjoy!

Turn off your inner critic and tune in to intuition!

Most people do not know what it is like to be free of negative thoughts and mental chatter.

Negative thought patterns become habit and cannot be simply “thought” away. They are programmed to be in your head; most likely placed there as a way to keep you safe or to conform to a certain way of being.

If you work and live in the world you will suffer from some degree of mental programming that takes you away from being yourself. Not being true to You is what creates stress, anxiety and depression! When you quiet your mind, you clear interference that keeps you from the feelings and intuition that are meant to guide you along your path.

Known methods for quieting the mind are meditation and listening to guided visualizations.

With meditation you will experience varying degrees of success based on how often you practice. It takes time learn how to quiet the mind and most people don’t have the patience to be consistent.

Guided visualizations give your mind something to focus on. Depending on the content this could be a step in the right direction. Click on the link for my guided visualization gift to you: Breath of Light by Linda Bertaut

Quieting the mind happens when you feed your spirit!

Reiki is my favorite because it is so simple. Reiki is a hands-on healing modality that feeds your spirit to quiet the mind and calm the emotions. Used regularly you feel a sense of peace and knowing from within.

If you have already been attuned to Reiki...remember to practice on yourself. If you want a refresher or have not taken Reiki yet, you can join me on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 10 AM to 6 PM in Concord, CA. Cick on the picture to learn more:

Face & Body Spa Conference & Expo 2012

By Linda Bertaut

Face & Body Trade show floor

Face & Body celebrated its 20th anniversary this month in San Jose, CA. I have a special affinity for this trade show as it was the first one to hire me to write for their magazine, Skin Inc., and speak at their Face & Body back in 2003. After 9/11, I have been on a mission to teach estheticians how to heal themselves and share this healing energy with clients. Since then I have written for a number of beauty industry trade magazines, I have a chapter in the Milady textbook and I speak at shows across the country. Thank you Melinda and Marion for giving me a chance to share my message!

On Saturday, I was part of the advanced education day where I taught “The Meridian Dance: Moving Body Affirmations for Wellness.” The meridians are invisible “energy” channels throughout the body which supply us with health and vitality when fully functioning. Estheticians can stimulate meridian points on the face and upper body to help reduce stress, anxiety and improve the flow of chi throughout the body. You can read more on my articles page about this.

Teaching the Meridian Dance

After giving my class I was able to see what others were speaking about. Here is a recap on the classes I attended:

• “Indigenous Natural Body Treatments” was taught by a non-industry person who turned “Kitchen Cosmetics” into a business by telling the story of her products using herbs grown on her property. I love mixing potions and masks in the kitchen…

• Rebecca James-Gadberry spoke passionately about “The Epigenome – Where the Environment and Genome Meet.” Did you know that a system of molecular tags responding to environmental influences such as UV, diet, stress, and drugs just to name a few can change your genetic expression triggering disease and cellular aging in you and future generations of your offspring? Whew….There is so much more to this conversation than one sentence.

• Jan Marini shared images and the warning signs of various types of Rosacea in “Rosacea: A Growing Concern for the Aging Population.” Did you know that Rosacea affects more than 14 million Americans? You can manage it with various treatments and medication but you cannot cure it. Here is what it looks like:

Rosacea beginning stage

Rosacea with acne - advanced

• Michael Pugliese did a fabulous job of sharing how inflammation starts in the cell and causes aging in, “Physiology of the Skin: Inflammation and Aging Skin.” The inflammation and free radical cascades are directly linked. What you put in your body and environmental exposure can hinder or enhance your health and speed up the aging process. Feed your cells and your feed your skin.

Walking the trade show floor I saw a number of “apothecary type” products allowing the esthetician to add powdered extracts containing nutrients and actives into their treatments and products that they can mix on the spot. With so much fear about “chemicals and preservatives” in skin care it provides an alternative for treatments.

By the way, ALL products are full of chemicals…because everything is a chemical except light and electricity. If you want to protect your health and have a shelf life for your skin care and cosmetics, you need preservatives in everything that is a liquid or cream. Without preservatives you are exposed to bacteria or microbial growth in your products which can affect your skin and health. So beware of people who tell you their products have no chemicals or preservatives. This is a sign they were not properly educated on chemistry. I will write more on this topic and interview cosmetic chemists and formulators so you can get the real scoop.

Love Makes Magic Happen by Linda Bertaut

Love Makes Magic Happen is an inspired book to lift the spirits that I wrote in 1995. I use this in classes and sell a version of this book in my business. You can read it from cover to cover OR, you can close your eyes and take a moment to think of a question or issue you have. Once you have something in mind, choose a number between 5 - 28. Go to that page for your inspired answer. Let me know your results. (Click on the 3rd button from the right to see this in full screen) Chakraliciously yours, Linda
